Steelers president Art Rooney II makes it clear Ben Roethlisberger can stay as long as he wants

At the start of the offseason, the Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Ben Roethlisberger got together and worked out a contract that allowed the Steelers to keep Roethlisberger in 2021 at something of savings to the team.

The contract was also structured in such a way as to allow and out for the Steelers after this season. But as we have contended since the beginning, Roethlisberger is going to play for the Steelers as long as he wants and ownership will make it work.

Steelers president Art Rooney II echoed that statement, at least in the short term, when he said it isn’t written in stone that 2021 is Roethlisberger’s final year.

This will be Roethlisberger’s second season back since having a season-ending elbow injury at the start of the 2019 season. There was no denying Big Ben’s arm wasn’t where it should be in 2020 but full health along with a revamped offense could mean several more seasons for the future Hall of Famer.
