Everyone thought the injured Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Nick Vannett was replacing was Vance McDonald. But surprise, it was actually Xavier Grimble who was headed to the reserve/injured list.
According to the team, Grimble suffered a calf injury during Sunday’s game with the San Francisco 49ers. McDonald suffered a shoulder injury as well and was seen this week in a sling but apparently Gimble’s injury was much worse.
Grimble has never been an impact player on offense but with the lack of depth the Steelers have, he was pressed into action. It seems likely Vannett will be on the 53-man roster on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.
