Steelers place Senquez Golson and Ryan Harris on injured reserve

The Steelers placed cornerback Senquez Golson and offensive tackle Ryan Harris on injured reserve Saturday and signed cornerback Al-Hajj Shabazz and offensive lineman Matt Feiler to the 53-man roster.

Golson and Harris are the second and third Steelers to be placed on injured reserve this season. Outside linebacker Bud Dupree was placed on injured reserve before the season after undergoing abdominal surgery.

Only one player each season can be brought back to the active roster from injured reserve, meaning either Dupree or Golson's season is over. Dupree, a starting outside linebacker, said last week he was not close to resuming football-related training. Golson, who was expected to be the slot corner in the nickel defense, is expected to be ready by the middle or end of next month.

Golson, who injured a foot early in training camp, was kept on the 53-man roster in hopes the Steelers could get through the first part of the season without any significant injuries to any other defensive backs. But when Justin Gilbert injured a knee in practice this week the Steelers decided to make the move.

Shabazz had been on the Steelers' practice squad and is expected to dress for Sunday's game against the Jets.

Harris, who was signed in March to be the top backup tackle, injured a leg late in the game against the Chiefs. Feiler also had been on the practice squad and is expected to dress as the seventh offensive lineman.
