Steelers place Ben Roethlisberger on reserved/injured list, promote Devlin Hodges

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced via their Twitter account on Monday afternoon that quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was being placed on the reserve/injured list after suffering an elbow injury in Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

With Roethlisberger headed to IR, the Steelers were in dire need of a backup quarterback. There was a though Pittsburgh might seek out a veteran free agent but for now they have chosen instead to promote Devlin Hodges to back up Mason Rudolph going forward.

Hodges was a star of training camp and preseason. He will now represent the last line of defense should something happen to Rudolph this season.
