Steelers offense shows growth in preseason win over the Eagles

On Thursday night, everyone got a better look at what the new Pittsburgh Steelers offense is going to be and it is a good thing. The Steelers beat the Philadelphia Eagles 24-16 and showed efficiency and balance on offense that is welcome after last year.

Offensively, both Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins played well. They combined to go 24-for-31 for 238 yards and a passing touchdown. Pittsburgh didn’t shy away from running the football with 42 rushing attempts for 152 yards. This is a huge improvement when you consider this team was dead last in rushing yards last season.

On defense, the Steelers continued business as usual style getting after the quarterback and taking away the football. Pittsburgh sacked Philadelphia quarterbacks and picked on Philadelphia quarterback Nick Mullens twice.

This was a strong overall performance for Pittsburgh in all three phases. The final score was nice and going 2-0 so far in the preseason is a bonus but in terms of player evaluation, there was a lot of the learned from this win.
