Steelers need to monitor Josh Gordon situation with the Patriots

It seems the New England Patriots and wide receiver Josh Gordon are preparing to part ways. The Patriots put Gordon on IR but word is the injury isn’t severe and he is hopeful that one he is cleared to practice, the Patriots will release him and he can sign with another team. There’s no set timetable for this, but NFL reporter Albert Breer reported that Gordon is running and the injury appears to be minor.

Why does this matter to the Pittsburgh Steelers? Because the Steelers are in dire need of some talent at wide receiver and Gordon is an elite player when everything is going right for him.

Would Gordon be a risk? Absolutely. But when you consider he’s a rental who would likely be willing to play on a cheap “prove-it” type of contract, he could be the huge athletic weapon to help JuJu Smith-Schuster break out. No one is asking for 2013 Gordon, but if he’s healthy, there’s little doubt he can be productive.

If the Patriots decide to release Gordon, should the Steelers try to sign him? Let us know in the comments below.
