Steelers miss out on safety Malik Hooker

Many Pittsburgh Steelers fans were optimistic that free-agent safety Malik Hooker could find his way to Pittsburgh and sign this offseason. However, according to multiple reports, Hooker has agreed to terms with the Dallas Cowboys and Steelers fans have their hopes dashed.

It doesn’t really surprise me that Hooker chose the Cowboys to be honest. Opportunities for Hooker on the Steelers roster aren’t great. Terrell Edmunds isn’t great but he’s the starter with Minkah Fitzpatrick. Not to mention the Steelers have some players behind Edmunds like Antoine Brooks, Arthur Maulet and Tre Norwood.

Pittsburgh has some money to spend in free agency as training camps all over the NFL get going. Now that Hooker is off the table, the Steelers could look to depth at offensive tackle or another position of need.
