Steelers meeting with top wide receiver prospects at scouting combine

The Pittsburgh Steelers have started looking for Antonio Brown’s replacement at the NFL scouting combine. Based on multiple reports on Twitter, multiple top receiver prospects reported they have formal interviews lined up with the Steelers set up or have already happened.

Among the prospects meeting with the Steelers is former Oklahoma speedster Marquise Brown. There is some level of irony to the notion of the Steelers possibly drafting the cousin of Antonio Brown. Maybe Pittsburgh hopes interest in Brown would entice his cousin to stay. Or it could just be the similarities to their game.

Among the other top prospects meeting with Pittsburgh you have N’Keal Henry of Arizona State, D.K. Metcalf and A.J. Brown of Ole Miss and Riley Ridley of Georgia. These are at least four of the five best receivers in the draft and several of them could be targets for the Steelers at pick No. 20.

I understand the interview process at the combine is somewhat just procedural but it’s not a coincidence the first names we here are the elite of the wide receiver class. If we want to read too much into this it could be a sign the Steelers have an offer or two they are seriously mulling over and Brown’s days in Pittsburgh are truly numbered.
