Steelers meet with 2 of the top ILB prospects at scouting combine

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to do their due diligence at the NFL scouting combine. First, it was the wide receivers and now the inside linebackers get a turn. According to Steelers’ writer Joe Rutter, Pittsburgh is meeting with two of the top inside linebacker prospects in the draft.

The Steelers will be getting a deeper look at former LSU linebacker Devin White and former Alabama linebacker Mack Wilson.

White is the consensus top inside linebacker in the draft. He’s the most athletic of the group on film and has the most complete skill set of the bunch. He’s also likely a top 15 pick and would almost certainly require a trade up to get him.

Wilson, on the other hand, should be on the board when the Steelers pick at 20 but the tradeoff is he doesn’t bring as much in terms of a complete game. It’s hard to believe there won’t be a much more impactful player at a different position.

It is worth noting there’s been no word of the Steelers meeting with former Michigan standout Devin Bush. This could just be a smokescreen and Pittsburgh really is interested in the athletic, albeit undersized inside linebacker. But I would contend the Steelers drafted a bigger version of Bush last season in Terrell Edmunds and just need to find better ways to utilize him.
