If you are making a list of the greatest Pittsburgh Steelers of all time, you won’t get far before you get to former safety Troy Polamalu. Polamalu’s epic career was rewarded this year when he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on the first ballot.
Polamalu spoke to Doug Farrar of Touchdown Wire and he spoke about what the event was like, especially being around so many other Steelers.
Here is what Polamalu said about being named to the Hall of Fame in his first opportunity.
It was incredibly humbling. Just to be around all the other Hall of Famers, to be around my teammates again, to be around football – it was such a great experience to be in Canton. I would encourage any football fan, or fan of sports, to go to Hall of Fame Weekend. It’s such a tremendous event.
Polamalu spent all 12 of his seasons in the NFL in Pittsburgh and along with former Baltimore Raven Ed Reed set the standard for what it takes to be a modern NFL safety.
In 158 career games, Polamalu had 783 tackles, 12 sacks and a staggering 32 interceptions. A case could be made that Polamalu is the second-best Steeler of all time if we all assume defensive tackle Joe Greene is and will always be No. 1,
