Steelers LB Vince Williams says it was ‘stability and a winning environment over money’ with his contract

In case you missed one of the other times I’ve said it, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker is a treasure. On Saturday, Williams told a Twitter follower he felt like running back Le’Veon Bell should sign with whatever team offers him the most money. This didn’t please many Steelers’ fans but Williams came back on Sunday and made sure everyone knew his statement was not his personal stance on the matter.

Williams signed a three-year, $18.6 million contract extension with the Steelers just before the start of the 2018 season. This included $6.7 million in bonuses that season. Williams is in line to get another $2.9 million as a roster bonus this offseason in March. Williams’ contract runs through 2021.

Hopefully, Williams is a guy who always wants to be a Steeler. His work ethic and attitude are the characteristics that made this franchise great for so long. No judgment on what a player’s motivations are in the NFL but we are sure glad Williams’ are all about winning and the team.
