One of the biggest mysteries for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the coming weeks is where running back Le’Veon Bell signs as a free agent. Pittsburgh chose not to put the transition tag on Bell this offseason allowing him to sign wherever he wants as an unrestricted free agent. Steelers’ linebacker Vince Williams was asked on Twitter if he cared where Bell goes and his answer was interesting, to say the least.
Needless to say, a response centered only on money would get a rise out of Steelers’ fans. If you read the replies you will see Williams called out for only thinking about the money and pointing to the Steelers not winning with that attitude.
We aren’t going to call Williams to task for his comment but it is no surprise it is disconcerting to fans. No mention of playing for a team where he’s happy or successful. No mention of Bell not being in the AFC. The NFL has become such a business for most players it isn’t a reach for fans to question their desire to win and their loyalty to a franchise when it is always about money.
