Steelers LB T.J. Watt fined $10,300 for taunting vs Ravens

According to NFL reporter Tom Pelissero, Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt was fined $10,300 for taunting in last week’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Watt was flagged for the play as well.

It’s never been clarified exactly what Watt did wrong as he walked up the field talking to Ravens running back Devonta Freeman. After the game, Watt didn’t have much to say about it but wasn’t clear as to why he drew the flag.

Head coach Mike Tomlin said something similar. “I don’t know what he did,” Tomlin said. “I just accepted the penalty and moved on, and so did T.J. and the rest of our group.”

The league continues to struggle at enforcing taunting with any sort of clarity or consistency.
