Steelers LB Devin Bush more than advertised in rookie debut

It wasn’t cheap for the Pittsburgh Steelers to trade up and draft linebacker Devin Bush in 2019. But you hoped it was worth it. If one preseason game is any indication the Steelers got a bargain. Bush was in the starting lineup for Pittsburgh against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and made a spalsh in his rookie debut.

Bush finished the game with 10 total tackles in about a half of work. You can see all his tackles in the video below.

We obviously don’t want to get too excited about one effort but it’s important to note how the two teams started the game. The Steelers rested the vast majority of their starters on defense Friday night. If we project Bush as a starter he was one of only three on the field.

Meanwhile the Buccaneers trotted out the bulk of their starters on offense including their starting running back and quarterback. And even with lesser talent around him, Bush shined. We can’t wait to see what he does next.
