Steelers LB Bud Dupree should expect a fine for hit vs Seahawks

Everyone can appreciate the physicality of the NFL. Despite the fact, the league goes overboard at times with their rhetoric about player safety many fans consider it softening the sport. Quarterbacks, in particular, are an emphasis for the NFL in terms of protection and this isn’t appreciated by many fans and defensive players.

But there are times when defensive players go too far. We expect the league is going to notify Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Bud Dupree that he went too far on his hit on Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson Sunday.

Dupree laid this hit on Wilson and while it didn’t draw a flag, it’s hard to imagine the all-seeing eye of the NFL won’t look this one over and lighten Dupree’s wallet.

Plays like this would be less meaningful if Dupree was making some legitimate plays on defense as well. Dupree had a sack last season and got everyone’s hopes up but it feels like this will be yet another year where he’s more hype than substance.
