Steelers land defensive star in new 2020 mock draft

With the start of the college football season just a few weeks away it is time to start talking about the 2020 NFL draft. Our good friends over at Draft Wire have a brand new one-round mock draft out and we are here to give you the rundown for the Pittsburgh Steelers pick.

They have the Steelers with the No. 22 overall pick selecting LSU defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence. You might not have heard of Lawrence because last season was really his first big year as a player but if he can build on his four sacks and 10 tackles for loss from last season, you will be hearing a lot more about him.

Lawrence is a massive kid at 6-foot-3 and 317 pounds. The Tigers played him primarily as a defensive tackle but did slide him outside in three-man fronts. He’s got a powerful base and is very hard to move off his spot. He shows a quick first step and violent hands.

The Steelers can never have enough talented, disruptive defensive linemen. Lawrence looks like a prime candidate for a breakout this season and would be an excellent value pick for Pittsburgh.
