Steelers land back-to-back playmakers in 2020 NFL mock draft

Now that the college football season is getting into full swing and the NFL regular season is less than two weeks away, we want to really start our deep dive into potential NFL draft prospects for 2020. Our friends over at Draft Wire have a new two-round mock draft out and we had to check it out.

They have the Pittsburgh Steelers picking No. 21 overall in the first round and they take Missouri tight end Albert Okwuegbunam. Here’s what they had to say about the pick.

Even with the departure of Antonio Brown, the Steelers still have a talented group of wide receivers, but they could use a dynamic target at tight end to replace Jesse James. Okwuegbunam is a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses thanks to his combination of size and athleticism.

Moving to the second round they have Pittsburgh drafting Alabama edge rusher Anfernee Jennings. Both players are bigtime playmakers on either side of the football. Okwuegbunam is a guy who could have a huge impact on the Steelers offense. But honestly, I don’t feel like Pittsburgh is prioritizing the tight end position anymore.

As for Jennings, I’d like to see him make a leap this season to warrant a second-round pick. But if he’s too good he might end up out of reach for Pittsburgh. Is an edge rusher a need? This will depend on Bud Dupree. He’s been strong in preseason and might earn himself a contract. If this happens, edge rusher will drop in terms of draft need.
