Steelers land 2 playmakers in 2020 NFL mock draft

Despite the fact the NFL is still a month from training camp, the 2020 NFL draft is already out there on people’s minds. Our friends over at Draft Wire put out a new two-round mock draft for next season and we couldn’t look away. Here’s how the two rounder broke down for Pittsburgh.

First round

TE Albert Okwuegbunam, Missouri

Second round

EDGE Yetur Gross-Matos, Penn State

Looking at the Steelers’ early needs, tight end and a pass-rushing outside linebacker certainly qualify. Okwuegbunam is a tremendous playmaker int he passing game. He’s 6-foot-5 and 265 pounds with the feet of a wide receiver and soft hands. He’s one to watch this season as the top tight end in the country.

As for Gross-Matos, I hope to see more from him in 2019. He’s a disruptive defensive end and especially good in stopping the run. But to be a second-round or even a late first-round pick as some claim he’s going to need to show he can finish more plays when he rushes the passer.

The Steelers drafted Zach Gentry in the fifth round of the 2019 draft but the Steelers didn’t really address the need at edge rusher at all. Don’t be shocked if we hear about these two positions in future mock drafts as well. Overall, I’d be happy with this haul as of right now.
