Steelers land 2 nationally televised preseason games

If you are a Pittsburgh Steelers fan outside of the Pittsburgh area you are in for a treat this offseason. The NFL Network put out their preseason television schedule and the Steelers are getting two games televised nationally.

Pittsburgh will have their Week One home game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers television on Friday, August 9 as well as the Week Two home showdown against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday, August 17.

Historically under head coach Mike Tomlin, the first two preseason games of the year haven’t been much to watch. Tomlin’s approach with playing his stars is to only use them sparingly in the third week of the preseason and that’s it.

This season could be different. The Steelers typically can take a slow approach to the preseason because their opening weekend game isn’t a huge challenge. But this season, the Steelers face a monumental challenge. Pittsburgh plays the New England Patriots on the road in Week One. This could completely change the dynamic of the preseason to prepare for this game.
