Steelers injury update: Multiple starters injured, Mike Tomlin not making excuses

Injuries for the Pittsburgh Steelers really started to pile up against the Seattle Seahawks. The Steelers lost to the Seattle Seahawks 28-26 but the injuries that occurred could be more telling as Pittsburgh falls to 0-2.

Head coach Mike Tomlin confirmed the following injuries at his postgame press conference and categorized them all with his usual “being evaluated” coach speak.

QB Ben Roethlisberger (elbow)

LB Anthony Chickillo (plantar fascitis)

RB James Conner (knee)

LB Vince Williams (hamstring)

S Sean Davis (shoulder)

Tomlin was quick to point out, however, those injuries weren’t why they lost the game. And honestly I think that’s fair. Mason Rudolph played very well in place of Roethlisberger and of the other injuries on this list, the dropoff on the depth chart isn’t so great as to be a difference-maker.

The real problem with these injuries is how they impact the way the guy still on the field play. It’s hard for even professional athletes not to be impacted when their teammates start dropping like flies around them.
