Steelers HC Mike Tomlin talks injuries and the trade for Nick Vannett

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin spoke to the media on Wednesday about the current status of the team’s injured players ahead of the team’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

According to Tomlin, fullback Roosevelt Nix will remain out this week but tight ends Vance McDonald and Xavier Grimble are both questionable and he is hopeful McDonald can play.

Tomlin also noted starting linebacker and reserve Anthony Chickillo are also questionable.

In the discussion, Tomlin also noted the move to trade for Nick Vannett was not in response to the severity of McDonald’s injury. To me, this means it was more in response to the total lack of talent behind McDonald on the tight end depth chart.
