Steelers HC Mike Tomlin snubbed as PFWA Coach of the Year

The Professional Football Writers of America announced their end of season awards for coaches and executives for the 2019 season.  Unfortunately, despite the masterful effort of head coach Mike Tomlin went unnoticed by the PFWA and instead coach of the year went to Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh.

There is no denying the turnaround the Ravens made this season. But if we are really honest with ourselves, was it because of Harbaugh or more about the play of quarterback Lamar Jackson? Yes, I know Harbaugh had the foresight to cut Jackson loose and this is to be applauded.

But Tomlin took a team who lost its best running back and wide receiver before the start of the season, its franchise quarterback in the second game of the season and a host of other injuries to starters on both sides of the ball.

Yet, this team was still squarely in the mix to make the playoffs in the final week of the season. And ultimately losing the final three games of the season when they were so vital reflects heavily on the head coach.

Do you think Tomlin should have been coach of the year or did the late-season sputter doom his chances?
