Steelers HC Mike Tomlin on last season’s failing: ‘We all need to look in the mirror’

When you are a franchise accustomed to success, missing the playoffs is a big deal. And missing the playoffs amidst all the drama of last season only magnifies the urgency to do better this season. And no player is off the hook. Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin admitted as much when he spoke to the media during the NFL owner meetings.

“We all need to look in the mirror,” Tomlin said after going 9-6-1 in 2018. There was plenty of blame to go around including a fair dose to Tomlin. The question isn’t if there are areas where everyone including the coaches can improve, but will they?

This group, especially the coaching staff have seemed excessively stubborn in schemes and playcalling. In-game adjustments were practically non-existent and the talent on the roster rarely seemed to be utilized to the best of their ability.

What changes do you expect to see out of Tomlin and his staff this season?
