Steelers HC Mike Tomlin makes it clear Mason Rudolph is the starter when cleared

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin spoke to the media on Wednesday and cleared up any confusion about the starting quarterback position. According to Tomlin, when the team comes back off the bye, Mason Rudolph will be the starter as soon as he is cleared from concussion protocol.

Rudolph was injured in the game against the Baltimore Ravens game after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit. Rookie Devlin Hodges finished the game and played well in a loss. Hodges then came back the next week and won against the Los Angeles Chargers — albeit in a very minimal role.

It isn’t clear about when Rudolph would be cleared this week so it is good the Steelers are on a bye. After the bye Pittsburgh will start a three-game home stretch with the woeful Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.
