Steelers HC Mike Tomlin humble in talking about record

When you are a team with Super Bowl aspirations every season, it is hard to accept struggles. Last season, the Pittsburgh Steelers missed the playoffs but this season was going to bring new hope. That hope was somewhat derailed when the team started off 1-3. But being .500 at the turn is about as good as anyone could hope for. Head coach Mike Tomlin certainly acknowledged this in his postgame press conference after the Steelers beat the Indianapolis Colts.

“It’s good to be sitting at 4-4,” Tomlin said. “I never thought I’d hear myself say that.” Tomlin called the start of the season the September stench and he isn’t wrong.

Tomlin and the Steelers were humbled by their early games. And when you consider three of their four wins have come against ba teams and all four of their losses have come against good ones, you have to assume they fall somewhere in between.

Nevertheless, the Steelers have a chance to keep themselves in the playoff hunt. Pittsburgh gets the Los Angeles Rams at home this week and then gets the Browns, Bengals and Browns again in three weeks.
