Steelers HC Mike Tomlin didn’t write off Redskins coaching opportunity

A rumor being floated this week is that Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder has Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin on his shortlist of potential candidates to replace recently fired Jay Gruden.

Tomlin was asked about it at his Tuesday press conference and he fired back about it not being his focus right now but in no way dismissed the notion down the road.

“I’m the head coach of a 1-4 football team that’s going on the road to play a Hall of Fame quarterback with a third-string quarterback,” Tomlin said. “Do you think I’m worried about anything other than that?”

You hate to admit it but there are plenty of reasons for Tomlin to want the Washington job. It puts him closer to his hometown and where his son is playing college football. He’d get a massive contract and likely tons of control plus he would be in charge of a team with a talented young quarterback to groom.
