Steelers HC Mike Tomlin calls roster moves a ‘cleansing’

They might not show up in the standings next season, but changes are happening within the culture of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are going to great lengths to transform a team that played through drama and distractions into one that focuses on football and maintaining a level of character.

When head coach Mike Tomlin spoke to ESPN’s Trey Wingo, he referred to the departure of petulant former Steelers Antonio Brown and Le’Veon Bell as a “cleansing,” which feels rather appropriate. When all this drama started, all I could think of is the line from the 2013 film “The Purge.” “Just remember all the good the purge does.”

While the team might not have the volume of talent it has had over the last two seasons without Bell and Brown, the ability to play in an environment free of distractions should counter those departures.

Do you see the team as better or worse right now than they were last season?
