Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert on Wednesday said the team is willing to trade wide receiver Antonio Brown, but it was clear from his comments this isn’t a done deal by any means.
Ultimately any trade the Steelers make will come to value. As Colbert said, they aren’t going to trade Brown if the move isn’t beneficial to the Steelers. Brown assumes he’s going to play somewhere else in 2019, but he might find himself disappointed if the Steelers choose not to just give him away because he wants to be gone.
This would honestly be some level of poetic justice considering how much work Brown has put in to try to make himself impossible to keep around. You can bet the Pittsburgh front office won’t hesitate to keep Brown on the roster in 2019, not to spite him, but simply to make a point.
