Steelers get top tight end in early 2020 NFL draft projection

Is it ever too early for a mock draft? If you ask ESPN NFL draft analyst Todd McShay, the answer must be no. With the draft less than a week old, McShay already has a 2020 mock draft projection out. Pittsburgh Steelers fans are still basking in the light of the 2019 NFL draft and the big trade to get Devin Bush but we decided to take a peek anyway.

McShay, courtesy of some formula by Football Outsiders has the Steelers picking No. 28 in the first round. With the pick, McShay has Pittsburgh taking Vanderbilt tight end Jared Pinkney. Here’s what McShay said about the pick.

Fifty catches for 774 yards and seven scores is impressive production for a tight end. He could end up being the Steelers’ new Heath Miller.

We aren’t going to spend a lot of time breaking down the pick or the player. There will be plenty of time for this. We just thought we’d share a little bit of the madness that is the NFL draft. But as of now, the idea of getting another Heath Miller certainly piqued my interest in Pinkney as a prospect.
