Steelers free agent WR Justin Hunter works out for the Patriots

Several of the Pittsburgh Steelers free agents remain unsigned as all 32 NFL teams are either in training camp or preparing for it. One of those free agents is wide receiver Justin Hunter but this could change in the coming days. NFL reporter Ian Rapoport is reporting the New England Patriots brought Hunter in for a workout as insurance for Julian Edelman and his injured thumb.

Hunter joined the Steelers in 2017 but never found his place in the offense. In two years Hunter played in 12 games and pulled in seven receptions for only 44 receiving yards. His size and speed were enticing when he joined Pittsburgh but even if he doesn’t sign with the Patriots it is highly doubtful the Steelers would bring him back.
