Steelers expected to bring back P Jordan Berry

Less than three months ago, the Pittsburgh Steelers decided Jordan Berry wasn’t the answer at punter. They let Berry walk and instead brought in veteran Dustin Colquitt. The goal was to improve the punter position.

What happened was things actually got worse. This forced the team to release Colquitt on Friday and according to NFL reporter Field Yates, Pittsburgh is going back to Berry for better or worse.

When it was first reported that Colquitt was out, I assumed the Steelers were planning to promote punter Corliss Waitman to the 53-man roster. Waitman has a 42.7 career average while playing at South Alabama.

Instead, the Steelers are going with something they know, even if what they know is things aren’t great. This is the biggest game of the season for both teams and the Steelers are going to make a serious effort to minimize the damage the punter will have on it.
