Steelers could be seriously shorthanded versus the Ravens

There is no margin for error when the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Baltimore Ravens this week. Pittsburgh’s playoff hopes are on life support and a loss to the Ravens might be too much to overcome. So a rash of injuries wouldn’t be in the team’s best interest.

Having said all that, you take a look at the Thursday practice report and realize the situation could be dire. Wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster and running back James Conner both missed practice with injuries, as did tight end Vance McDonald.

Friday is the practice that counts for head coach Mike Tomlin. If these three can’t get in the field on Friday, their availability for Sunday’s game will come into question. The Steelers cannot afford to be down three offensive starters in a game that could turn into a shootout.

Additionally, inside linebacker Vince Williams and defensive tackle Cam Heyward were both full participants. Williams has missed the last two games and Heyward did not practice on Wednesday.
