Steelers cornerback Senquez Golson had surgery today on his Lisfranc foot injury and could be out for nearly four months.
Golson, a second-round draft choice in 2015 who missed all of last season with a torn labrum in his shoulder, was injured last Monday in practice and carted from the field. The Steelers had to wait for the swelling in his foot to subside before it could be determined whether he needed surgery.
The Steelers were counting on Golson to be their nickel back in a secondary that was being rebuilt with youth and high draft choices.
Golson could be a candidate for the short-term injured reserve list that allows a player to return to the team after eight weeks. He has yet to appear in any type of game with the Steelers and faces the possibility of not doing so until perhaps next year.
