Steelers CB Joe Haden optimistic about new contract

While the Pittsburgh Steelers players are on the field at training camp working on their game, the front office stays behind the scenes and continues to work on the business part of the team. One piece of business the front office is giving attention is a contract extension for cornerback Joe Haden.

Haden spoke to the media when he arrived at training camp this week and let everyone know the Steelers and his representatives are working on a new contract and he is optimistic about a deal getting done. Haden is currently in the final year of his contract and wants to stay with Pittsburgh.

Despite being 30 years old, Haden is playing some of his best football. Pittsburgh added Steven Nelson to start opposite Haden but for now the only real competition for the boundary cornerback spot is rookie Justin Layne. Layne shows a ton of promise but it would be much better to have Haden back for at least one more season.
