Steelers CB Joe Haden carted off practice with ankle injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers took their first collective gasp of training camp on Wednesday. According to Missi Matthews of the team’s official site, Haden suffered an injury and was carted off the practice field. Reports are Haden was up and showing a limp and perhaps the cart was simply precautionary.

According to NFL reporter Adam Schefter, Haden dodged a bullet and only suffered a minor ankle injury. The Steelers can ill afford to lose Haden for any length of time. It isn’t clear how long Haden will be out but honestly no matter how much time he needs before the start of the regular season, as the team’s best defensive back, he should get it.

The team did release a statement that Haden will be evaluated and an update would be provided after Friday’s game. Which in case there was any doubt, means Haden will not play Friday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
