Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger should benefit from being sidelined in 2019

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said that being forced to the sidelines last season should be beneficial to him going forward.

Wearing a headset and hearing communication from coaches and players was something that he’s never quite been able to experience from that standpoint.

“When you’re playing, when you’re on the field and come off to the sideline, you only have so much time really to communicate with receivers, running backs, linemen, things like that, and then look at the pictures and all the things that go in between series,” explained Roethlisberger.

“Last year, I was actually able to watch more. I was able to watch more of the big picture if you will. Then, I was able to speak with more guys on the sidelines and talk with them and communicate kind of what I saw, what did they see. I think it was beneficial.”

Roethlisberger said he was able to “see the other side of it” for the first time. Instead of being the quarterback in the game, he saw a different perspective.

A season of insight from the sidelines and nearly 12 months to dedicate to his body and mind should do a quarterback good.
