Steelers backup QB Mason Rudolph impresses with deep pass to Diontae Johnson

The Steelers’ backup quarterback situation is undefined, to put it kindly. Right now, the depth chart behind Ben Roethlisberger has Mason Rudolph, Dwayne Haskins, and Josh Dobbs. Not exactly a Murderers’ Row for the team should anything happen to the 39-year-old Roethlisberger. Right now, Rudolph might be the clubhouse leader for the primary backup role. Against the Cowboys in the Hall of Fame Game, he he looked more decisive than Haskins, who appeared to be a step slow with everything. Rudolph completed six of nine passes for 84 yards, while Haskins completed eight of 13 passes for 54 yards.

Against the Eagles in the Steelers’ second preseason game, Rudolph helped his case quite a bit with this nice 33-yard pass to Steelers backup QB Mason Rudolph impressed in the team’s preseason game against the Eagles with a great deep throw to receiver Diontae Johnson with 4:39 left in the first quarter.

Not much cornerback Michael Jacquet III could do about that ball, as well-placed as it was.
