Steelers announce signing on DE Taco Charlton to practice squad

As injuries continue to pile up, the Pittsburgh Steelers made a move on Tuesday to try and help out. The team announced they were signing former first-round pick defensive end Taco Charlton to their practice squad.

The Steelers had an extra spot on its practice squad after promoting defensive lineman Hendry Mondeaux to the 53-man roster on Monday. This was done in response to nose tackle Tyson Alualu going on IR with a broken ankle.

Charlton could see time fairly quickly if the injuries to the Steelers defensive line and linebackers continue to be an issue. Charlton is considered a draft bust after being the No. 28 overall pick in the 2017 draft but he might just need a fresh start with the Steelers. The Steelers now have two former first-round picks on the roster with Charlton and safety Karl Joseph.
