Steelers announce 1-year contract extension for HC Mike Tomlin

On the day training camp is set to start, the Pittsburgh Steelers have announced they have signed head coach Mike Tomlin to a one-year contract extension. The team sent out this tweet on Thursday about the new deal for Tomlin.

Here is the statement from team president Art Rooney II about the extension.

I am pleased to announce we have extended Mike Tomlin’s contract through the 2021 season. Mike is one of the most successful head coaches in the National Football League, and we are confident in his leadership to continue to lead our team as we pursue our goal of winning another championship.

This extension will assure Tomlin remains with the team through the 2021 season. The Steelers enter their 13th season with Tomlin as the helm looking to bounce back from a down year in 2018 with a rare playoff miss. Tomlin has led the Steelers to two Super Bowls and has one championship on his resume.
