The Pittsburgh Steelers have less than a month to figure out if they can get a contract extension sorted out for defensive tackle Cam Heyward. The COVID-19 pandemic and very little salary cap to work with have made this process even more difficult than in past seasons with high-profile players entering the final year of their contract.
Pittsburgh never works on contracts once the regular season gets going so time is running out. Our question of the day is all about whether or not the deal gets done.
The optimist in me says yes. The Steelers front office are wizards when it comes to the salary cap. They can move money around and divert payments to make contracts fit better than any team. Heyward wants to be a Steeler and Pittsburgh wants him back. This deal has to get done.
