Steel group celebrating tech stars at Birmingham Apprenticeship Awards 2020

A global steel company is backing tech stars by sponsoring our Birmingham Apprenticeship Awards 2020.

voestalpine is a UK market leader in the supply of speciality steels, tool steels, high-speed steels and strip steel and services such as cutting, machining and 3D printing.

It is supporting our annual celebration of the apprenticeship movement by sponsoring the Tech, Digital and Creative Industries category, one of five individual awards to be presented at our awards which will recognise achievement across a broad range of fields.

The event will hand out a total of 11 separate awards including crowning our overall Apprentice of the Year at the ceremony later this month.

Austrian group voestalpine has bases across the world including in Oldbury where it has Europe's tallest automated racking system, enabling rapid deliveries of its materials across the UK.

Commercial director Mark Williams said: "Young people are our future and we would like to take this opportunity to reassure them all that there is a bright one ahead.

"Sponsoring this event is just one of the many steps we'll be taking to demonstrate our commitment to keeping opportunities and dreams alive for young people."

The awards are run in conjunction with the Ladder for Greater Birmingham campaign, an initiative launched in 2018 aimed at creating 1,000 new apprenticeships in Birmingham and Solihull.
