Steel and Sons Cup competition called off amid Covid concerns

This season's Steel and Sons Cup has been called off amid ongoing coronavirus concerns.

Organisers have only been able to complete one round of the competition back on October 10.

The second round was due to take place on October 24 but still hasn't been played due to all non-elite sport going into lockdown.

Further Covid restrictions will remain in place until February 6, and with doubts over whether non-elite sport will return next month the decision has been made to call off the remainder of the Steel and Sons competition.

A Co Antrim FA statement read: "The Co Antrim FA Steel & Sons Cup Committee met this evening and have made the decision to terminate the 20/21 ToalsBet.Com Steel & Sons Competition with immediate effect."

Last season's Steel and Sons Cup was won by Linfield Swifts who defeated Newington 3-1 in the Christmas showpiece.
