Steamy couple caught kissing in Ayr courtroom are blasted by Sheriff

A couple who locked lips in the public gallery of Ayr Sheriff Court were handed a ticking off by a Sheriff.

Jordan and Emma Campbell were spotted by Sheriff John Montgomery as they awaited their appearance in the dock.

As they shared a smooch, Sheriff Montgomery blasted: “Think you’re at the pictures? This is a court of law!”

Jordan Campbell, aged 31, of Laighpark View, Coylton, pleaded guilty to assaulting a male, whose current identity is unknown, by punching them on the head and knocking them to the ground.

He also admitted being in possession of a bladed weapon, namely a knife.

The offences took place in Arthur Street, Ayr, on April 13, 2019.

Emma Campbell, aged 27, of Laighpark View, Coylton, pleaded guilty to obstructing police officers in the execution of their duty, assault and resisting, obstructing and struggling with police.

The offences also took place on April 13 this year in Arthur Street.

Defence solicitor for Jordan Campbell, John Gallagher, told Sheriff John Montgomery the pair were comforting each other as their appearance in the dock drew closer and issued an apology to the court on their behalf.

Sheriff Montgomery handed Jordan Campbell a community payback order, while Emma Campbell was fined £400.
