Staycation cottages in the real 'Shipton Abbott' from BBC's Beyond Paradise

Rave reviews have met the new BBC spin-off series from Death in Paradise called Beyond Paradise, based around DI Humphrey Goodman. And many fans have been admiring the fictional town of Shipton Abbott.

To help viewers have their own taste of paradise, Sykes Holiday Cottages has rounded up a collection of properties nestled in the town of Looe, Cornwall, where the series is filmed. Poppins Cottage is a detached cottage near Looe’s estuary. The cottage has its own private garden with plenty of seating for guests to admire the view while their pooches stretch their legs. Here, guests can enjoy a home cooked meal before lighting the crackling gas stove and putting their feet up in front of Beyond Paradise.

The beach is a short walk away and has plenty of fishing opportunities for anglers along Banjo Pier. Groups can end their day with fresh seafood available from The Old Sail Loft, a local restaurant which is one of the series’ filming locations.

River View Cottage – Looe, Cornwall

River View Cottage is an elevated cottage overlooking the river of East Looe. This bright and cosy cottage is a great base for young families, with a cot and highchair available for little ones to use. The sloping enclosed garden has a balcony for alfresco dining, as well as views of the river flowing through the woodland valley.

The outskirts of Looe host a variety of family attractions, including Wild Futures’ Monkey Sanctuary, which cares for different species of rescued monkeys, as well as glass-bottom boat trips available from the Quay.

The cottage’s character features are a key part of its charm, with beamed ceilings, a stable door and woodburning stove welcoming guests upon arrival. Local restaurants include The Sardine Factory Looe, The Old Sail Loft Restaurant, and Catch, which all serve fresh produce which has been sourced from the region. For a day out, ramblers can enjoy a hike along the renowned South West Coast Path or wander into the centre of Looe to browse the shops.
