As we reach autumn and winter, many families are on the hunt for a cosy staycation to save money and make life easier.
A classic staycation removes all the faff of busy airports and train stations and gives you the chance to truly unwind closer to home. Luckily for us Brits, there are plenty of places just a short drive away that offer amazing scenery.
Seashore Shepherds Hut sits 30 yards away from a secluded beach, six miles away from Ulverston, in Cumbria. You can reach it in under two hours if driving from Liverpool.

Built in August 2021, the hut offers the 'perfect retreat' for a couple who fancy a romantic getaway. The hut features an open-plan living space with views over Morecambe Bay and the Yorkshire Hills. It includes a electric fire ideal for cosy autumn nights and a Smart TV.
Set within the private grounds of the historic Moat Farm, Shepherds Hut has views over the owner's orchard. Described by Sykes Cottages as 'the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle' the hut has everything you need all under one roof.
With an open-plan living space, a double bed, dining space for two and an equipped kitchen area, the charming space is great for couples. There is also an inbuilt shower room with basin, WC and a walk-in shower where you can freshen up for the day.
Although Moat Farm stopped being a working farm over 20 years ago, the owners still run a hot food takeaway service cooking locally sourced brisket burgers, sausage burgers, bacon buns, tea, coffees, Lakes ice cream, homemade cake and their famous “proper chips”.
One visitor review read: "From the moment we arrived we were made to feel so welcome, a lovely selection of goodies awaited us, including homemade cake. The hut feels much bigger than I expected. There was a super practical kitchen area, powerful shower, oodles of hot water and lots of under-bed storage. Very comfortable bed and armchair, even lovely vintage china, just perfect.
"You can tell much love and care has gone into the making. The absolute best thing, is the wonderful location. beautiful views and an almost private beach! We are already planning to visit again. Thank you Caroline and John and your lovely animals, we so loved our time with you."
