When Mexican architect Javier Senosiain, the brain behind the building, was given the land to design one of his masterpieces, he wasn't planning on building a multi-coloured snake. He wanted to design something that would complement the land - but that he did.

Javier used the natural caves and curves of the terrain to construct the ethereal, intricately decorated, and brightly coloured sculpture that snakes in and out of the landscape.
One of the apartments, which sleeps up to six people in four bedrooms, is open to the guests to rent through Airbnb.
In keeping with the premise, each of the rooms is connected by various tunnels to allow the entry of maximum light and there are no doors - apart from the main entrance.
Breakfast is included in the booking price and private tours of the extensive botanical gardens can be arranged with the host Patricia, whose innate knowledge of the land and architecture makes for a fascinating daytime activity.
Patricia loves offering her guests a tour of the property - and for many, it becomes one of the highlights of their stay at Quetzalcoatl’s Nest.
The tour can easily turn into a 3-4 hour adventure if the guests are up for it. And Patricia’s pace is deliberately slow. She’ll point to the snake’s mouth built around a natural cave, urge guests to observe the different flowers and trees, notice the bright colours of the leaves, the sounds of the forest, and the variety of textures, both natural and man-made.
The residence even featured on season one of Netflix's "The World's Most Amazing Vacation Rentals."
