Stay in a 'Hobbit Hut' surrounded by 'beautiful views' in North Wales

Staycations are all the rage at the moment, with plenty of quirky accommodation options on offer to really push the boat out for a short break.

With autumn in full swing and winter slowly but surely creeping up on us, many are looking for easier alternatives for a trip away from home. A staycation requires a lot less hassle and a short car ride can offer an array of unique spaces for a break.

Nant y Garnedd in Mallywyd, North Wales, is an example of that. Just a two hour drive from Liverpool near Dinas Mawddwy, the Sykes Cottages accommodation offers a very unique 'hobbit style' stay.

The unique-looking property sleeps four people and looks like it's straight from a J. R. R. Tolkien novel. The 'Hobbit Huts' consist of a quirky selection of two-huts tucked away in grassy mounds surrounded by 'beautiful views' as described by reviewers.

It acts as a base for small families of four or couples looking for something different with one king bedroom and an open-plan living space. The 'Hobbit Hut' also features a walk-in shower and central heating with a Smart TV and WiFi.

As well as a private garden with a gravelled area, patio and sheltered decking, the hut also includes a hot tub. Surrounded by the nature of North Wales, hikes can be enjoyed up the summit of Pen Llyn Coch-hwyad as well as along the Llyn Coch-hwyad waterfall walk.

Close by is the small village of Mallywyd where you'll find cosy pub 'The Brigands Inn' if you don't feel like cooking. The town of Dinas Mawddwy also has a range of inviting pubs including The Red Lion.

For those who want to travel further afield, Dolgellau and Aberdovey are a short distance away with Tywyn and Barmouth offering picturesque beach walks. Whether you just want to lounge around or explore Wales, the Hobbit Hut offers visitors a unique and cosy stay.

Amongst the reviews, one visitor said: "Lovely welcome gift and couldn’t fault our short break -will definitely go again and will be happy to try other Sykes properties if they are all to this standard!"

A second review read: "The property was well-maintained and tastefully appointed. It was too chilly for us to brave the hot tub, but I imagine it would be lovely when the weather is kinder. We loved watching the red kites flying across the valley."
