Stay at Julia Child's famous French vacation home

April 06--If you've ever harbored fantasies of living like Julia Child in the south of France, now's your chance. The revered chef's cottage is available to rent on Airbnb.

For nearly 30 years, Julia and her husband, Paul, summered in La Pitchoune (meaning "The Little Thing," or La Peetch for short), hosting such culinary luminaries as James Beard, Simone Beck, M.F.K. Fisher and Richard Olney.

Purchased at the end of last year by Evie and Makenna Johnston, the storied property in Provence is returning to its roots as a cooking school and retreat, dubbed La Peetch Ecole de Cuisine.

Listed for $590 a night, the three-bedroom, four-bathroom cottage accommodates up to six guests. Concierge service costs extra, but breakfast is included, as is the chance to cook in Child's legendary kitchen. The cooking experience is open to guests, but also to students attending one of 16 weeklong cooking sessions. Boeuf bourguignon, anyone?

The school's cooking sessions are all-inclusive, complete with lessons, breakfast and lunch, local excursions, wine trips and, oddly enough, yoga. They kick off in 2017, but nightly Airbnb reservations are now open, with dates starting in June.
