Aug. 05--Huston Street's wife gave birth to the couple's third child, a son named Rafe William, at about 11 a.m. Wednesday, but Angels Manager Mike Scioscia did not rule out the possibility of the closer pitching against the Cleveland Indians in Angel Stadium Wednesday afternoon.
Asked if he was hoping Street would be available for the 1 p.m. game, Scioscia said, "Yes ... He might show up in scrubs, but I'm not going to say we're without him."
Street, who is 3-2 with a 2.66 earned-run average and 26 saves, has pitched in three of the team's previous four games, but he threw only six pitches in Tuesday night's 2-0, 12-inning loss to the Indians.
With an off day Thursday and the Angels remaining in Anaheim to begin a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles Friday night, there is no need for Street to go on baseball's paternity list. Even if Street is not available Wednesday, he will rejoin the team Friday night.
Street's original plan, had his wife not delivered the child by this Sunday, was to check into the hospital Sunday night, induce labor on Monday and join the Angels for the second game of a series in Chicago against the White Sox Tuesday night.
But with his wife delivering their third son on Wednesday, Street won't have to miss any games in Chicago.
