Statue of Kilmarnock manager Steve Clarke to be erected in town

Ambitious plans to erect a statue of Steve Clarke have been given the green light by East Ayrshire Council.

Provost Jim Todd confirmed that plans were in place to immortalise the Kilmarnock boss in the town centre.

One of Killie's most popular managers, a leaked artists' impression has shown what the planned statue could look like.

The details were announced after the Rugby Park side's 5-0 thrashing of Hamilton.

Provost Jim Todd said today: "Well, I can now announce that East Ayrshire Council has decided to erect a statue to Stevie Clarke, Kilmarnock Football Club's manager.

"I have been working on this for a year now and it is the right time and day to announce publicly.

"The statue will be placed at the old Killie cross beside Wilson and Shaw to stand for eternity.

"Details and more info to follow. KTID!"
